Our consortium has published a scoping review on how best to support carers of autistic people in both everyday caregiving and managing the emotional demands of the role. The review mapped evidence across health, education, psychology, and social care, analysing 128 studies. Strong evidence supported communication tools, behavioural and skill-based approaches, structured routines, and carer training, with coaching proving more effective than information alone. Evidence also showed that psychoeducation, cognitive-behavioural approaches, mindfulness, and peer support can reduce carer stress and burden. Findings will inform C4C training, integrating practical caregiving skills with carer wellbeing and confidence.
